Colin J. Carlson

Assistant Professor of Epidemiology & PI

Dr. Colin J. Carlson, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Yale University, and Executive Director of Verena (viralemergence.org). The Carlson Lab explores the future of global public health in the Anthropocene, with a focus on developing open science infrastructure for One Health biosurveillance; improving pandemic risk assessment in a changing biosphere; measuring the global burden of disease due to climate change; and ensuring access to data, scientific evidence, and medical countermeasures during public health emergencies. Dr. Carlson has also contributed to reports by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from the University of California, Berkeley.
